Buckle Up Please ....

Whether you're on your way to the fish market, your babysitter's house or to the library, you're probably getting there by riding in a car. Most kids spend some time in a car every day.Cars can be great because they're faster than biking, walking, or skateboarding.

But riding in cars comes with some responsibility: You need to ride safely. Especially when you are driving with toddlers. But what I notice most parents didn't even practice all this safety tips. I once saw a father driving with a toddler (around 18months) on his lap. Whether they think that investing some money in buying children car seat is costly or they are just a bunch of ignorant people.

I was shocked when I read the Berita Harian online ..

Pintu kereta terbuka, budak maut digilis

Tunggal, dekat sini.

Don't you think it is the parent's negligence that has cause the life of that little boy? If they have install the car seat, or even lock the door... I am sure the boy will still be safe, right? I have seen a lot of parents driving around with the kids' not even buckle up to their seat ... Goshhh very dangerous! When hub is driving I always sit down behind with my kids (and of course they were buckle up in their own car seat!)

And now the government is trying to enforce the rear seat belt law. (But I'm not sure whether this has started already or not). Anyway it's a good move to prevent rood accident.According to the news I read, the rear seat belt would be enforced on all vehicles except those registered before Jan 1,1995 .

So parents ... save some money and go buy the baby chair or booster chair for your kids. It's not much , only cost you around $150-$500 (if you really want to get the good one lah...) Your kid's life is PRICELESS .....

Think about it!

p.s Maybe it is more better if parents can install the airbag too!

Mah & Jason

Poem by Jason (From the Movie 'Sepet')
Copy from : Yasmin Ahmad - The Story teller

Bless this little heart,this white
soul that has won the kiss of heaven.

He loves the light of the sun,He
loves the sight of his mother’s face.
He has not learnt to hate the dust, and
love the gold.
Clasp him to your heart and bless him.
He has come into
this land of 100 crossroads.
I know not how he chose you from the crowd, came
to your door, grasped your hand to ask his way.
He followed you, laughing and
talking, without a doubt in his heart.
Keep his trust, lead him straight, and
bless him.
Lay your hand on his head, and pray that though the waves beneath
him grow threatening, yet the breath from above him will fill his sails and waft
him to the haven of peace.
Forget him not in your hurry, let him come to your
heart and bless him...
Goodnight, mah.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sad isn't it? really .. You should watch the Movie "Sepet". It really touch your heart... It's about two different people coming from 2 different walks of life , falls in love and try to make it happen and it ends "tragically" .... And if you wants to add moreeee "sadness" to the ending , go to Yasmin's blog because she wrote the actual ending script (She is the Director for this Movie) huhuhu ....
Sepet is a moving story. It is also a very artful piece of drama that weaves the themes of Malay-Chinese racial relations and the issue of nationhood within a simple plot of a love story.
I am cryinggggg !!!!!!!!!!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
p.s this is the scene when Loong's family was having dinner. Loong's Mah stuffing chicken to choke the words out of a cynical father/husband who was showing disaproval about Loong's relationship with a Malay girl. And Loong's SIL tried to say something and Mah said " ehhh .. shut up lah lu .. stupid singaporean.."

Latest Report By The Star

Rumours spark petrol panic in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Petrol kiosks were jammed with motorists as panic-buying of fuel was seen throughout Sabah over rumours of petrol kiosks closing down for three days.

The panic was triggered by rumours that petrol kiosk will shut down from Wednesday because protesting kiosk dealers nationwide were demanding higher commissions following the recent fuel hike.

Officials from Shell Malaysia and the Sabah Petroleum Dealers Association stressed that there was no truth to the rumour, and urged people not to resort to panic buying.

Luckily hub didn't join all the crowds at the petrol kiosk just now ..(he called up his friend attached with Shell earlier ... and he denied the rumours ..hehe)

Lucky us.......pheww!

Boycott by Petrol Station today??

I got 3 smses today about the petrol station won't be selling any fuel wef 2pm Today! At first I didn't bother because I thought like...."WTH??who was so free to circulate this type of SMS aahh?" and the source is not very reliable .. (normal lah .. if the info is already from 1 person to the other..) Anyway my ex-colleague called me up just a few moments ago and informs me that the "Fleet Card" has been suspended temporarily until further notice. And according to the drivers they have to fill up before 2pm as the petrol kiosk won't be selling fuel to anyone after that.
Is this a cheap gimmick or what...? So I checked the Internet ....... and I found this instead!

Petrol kiosks may stop credit card payments

CONSUMERS may not be able to use credit cards to pay for petrol soon as the Petrol Dealers Association of Malaysia (PDAM) has issued a letter to its
members asking them not to accept such cards for the time being, Sin Chew Daily
reported.Association deputy president Datuk Zulkifli Mokti said its 3,500
members would only take cash pending the meeting with the Government on the
service charge issue. He said banks charge 1% service charge on every litre
of petrol sold. “Petrol dealers paid 1.9 sen on every litre as service charge
when the petrol price was RM1.90 per litre, and now we have to pay 2.7 sen as
the petrol price has been raised to RM2.70 per litre,” he said. The petrol
dealers also would not accept the diesel subsidy card during this period, it
reported.

Another rumour I heard is that petrol price will be up by $1 effective tomorrow!!! Not sure whether it's only a rumours or ???

Lemme see (peeping outside my office window..)

Wow! the Esso kiosk in KK is full with cars racing to fill up their tanks!! So wait & see ** finger cross**

Fuel Hike, Again?

I was reading the news online a few minutes ago .. something caught my attention....

No More Fuel Price Hike This Year, Says PM

PUTRAJAYA, June 11 (Bernama) -- The prices of petrol and diesel will not be raised any more this year so as to ease the burden on the people, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Wednesday. The prime minister said this decision was made though the global oil price was expected to soar in the coming months. The current prices of fuel would be maintained even if the global oil price reaches US$200 a barrel this year, he told a news conference at his office here.Abdullah said the government had not set a ceiling for the global oil price in the future in deciding to keep to its assurance on retaining the current fuel prices for this year.He said the
government was aware that the people were striving to adjust to the current
situation of high fuel prices.Last Wednesday, the government announced an
increase of 78 sen or 41 per cent in the price of petrol, from RM1.92 to RM2.70
per litre, and an increase of RM1 or 63 per cent in the price of diesel, from
RM1.58 to RM2.58 per litre. The prices took effect on Thursday.

WTH??? Isn't he , our PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi who said earlier that there would be no fuel hike until August , but the next day ... taaaa daaaaa !! New petrol price was up by 79cents?????!!! He said there will be no more surprising & frightening news. Don't you people noticed something? Whenever there is a price increased that is soon followed by a barrage of advice. Mostly by our politicians . The ever-popular piece of advice ... "change your lifestyle". It probably means like .. yeah , go eat ubi kayu (tapioca) & pinantung (can't translate - but very famous in Kuala Penyu) and live in trees!!! and don't drive your car ... use kerbau (Buffalo) better no need to fill up fuel... cieeeeee !

And President of CASH was saying that if we have some spare land we should start planting vegetables. So what about those staying in high rise like apartments huhhh?? No need to eat vege. lah like that??? In addition to our 8 hours a day work in the office , we have to spare another 2 more hours to work as a farmer behind our houses? so total in a day we work for 10 hours????!!! The next thing you know DBKK will pay a visit to your house and confiscate your vegetable for unlicensed farming and issue you a summons to appear in court ??? OMG ...

So, do you think that the advice they give us is useful???? Use your brain lah, moronsssss !!!

BTW, back to our Dearest PM ..... is there anymore surprises dear PM??
Like when you said no more hike .. next day boommmm! up by 79cents.
When u said I am not getting married... the next month u get married.
and bla ... bla ... bla ....

And now you said no more price hike this year ... the next day???

I can hear everybody scream at the petrol station .....What the **** ???????

p.s see, I'm so free today I can do 3 posting in a day woorr? hehe ...

Is it my lucky day?

Am I consider lucky today ? Well .. lemme think ya ....
First, my breakfast was paid by my friend .. hehe
Second my lunch was paid by my boss
So today I didn't spend any single cents for lunch....Woohoooooo ! can save $6 !
But ..ehemm ehemmm I better get back to work before I go Zzzzzzzzzz
I feel lucky ... very very lucky todayyyyyyy!!! Yayy ... (But I still have another half day to go, so cross my finger** )

I am talking to a tape recorder ...

Yesterday I got a phone call from xxx Bank looking for my boss ....
(The conversation..)

BT : Hello May I speak to XXX ?

Me : I'm sorry he's not in. Anything I can help? (huhu trying to be helpful konon...)

BT : Are you the PA?

Me : Yes , what is it regarding about? Because I am not sure wether he will be coming back to the office or not.

BT : Ohh it's about his credit card ...

Me : Ohh i just bank-in a cheque this morning for the credit card payment.

BT : Ya, that's the problem ... The cheque amount is not tally with the outstanding amount.

Me : (Surprised... ) OIC ... what is the different? (Still talking politely)

BT : Well the outstanding amount is $9718 but your cheque is only $9713 ... so short by $5... I can't process the payment ....

--- after a very long conversation with the bank teller, she insist that she can't accept my boss cheque because it is $5 short .. i am getting fed-up -----------------

Me : So are you telling me that u cannot accept the payment bcz it's less by $5 ??? I am not paying you the minimum amount .. I am paying you the full outstanding amount and only less by $5??? NVM, I will ask somebody to collect the cheque from your office and .....

BT : Okie if that is okie with you .. much more easier

Me : No I haven't finish talking yet..... and I will call your Manager and ask she/he why the helll did your bank cannot accept my payment, just because it is $5 different.Bye.

And I slam the phone..........................

Goshhh .. they sound like they were reading a manual on how to attend a customer phone call because they keep on repeating the same answer over and over and over again .... duh!

Well you just can't fix stupid people right?

Cut Cost??

Everyday we read in the newspaper the government want to implement this and that ... Everyday they come up with new idea how to save money (kunun) and everyday they keep on saying "change your lifestyle, save save save ... and so on" ... and I am getting sick of hearing all this ....Why? Because they keep on talking but no action made! WTH????!!!!

Anyway .. recently a few officers from Land & Survey Dept from Sandakan went to our Island. We were so surprised because they didn't inform us that they will be going there to do "sukat-menyukat" for mapping purpose konon ... And I asked one of the officer (So-called Mandur)

Me : Eiii ...so how come your Dept. didn't inform us earlier that you are coming?

Officer : Oohh .. we thought that the island is still deserted ...

Me : (hmmm .. u mean like there is nobody there except for alligator & sand
flies???) Ooohh I see ... But how come not from KK aahh? How come they send from Sandakan?

Officer : (Big smile...) hehehe .. ya lor, we swap with KK teams because we will get outstation allowance & etc. So KK guys will be doing sandakan & Tawau ..

Me : OMG!! (Stunned....)

WTH??? They are taking advantage of the Govt's money (which was supposed to be "The People's Money") .. since the fuel hike everybody is trying to find side-income. And suddenly they are so "rajin" to do field works because they can claim a lot of things, and it is much better if it is outside their district. And why the hell did their Ketua Jabatan approved this? Aren't the government trying to save money for the people's need?????

Lazy Weekend

Saturday, 06th June

Phoebe & I went to watch Kung Fu Panda. It was a nice movie ...and very funny too! So far this is the only movie that can make Phoebe sit still until the very end. I guess she enjoy it as much as I do ... My favorite part of the movie is the scene where Po and Master Shifu were having a chopstick fight over a dumpling ... the special effects there was good. Overall , this movie can make you laugh your bellies out, which on the other hand for younger viewers like Phoebe will only go like "hmmm....huh... why?"

Sunday, 07th June

The four of us went to have brunch at one of the Kedai Kopi in Towering. So like usual I order my fav. Tenom Mee. The price still maintains but the quantity has been cut down. But luckily the quality is still there. So hubby & I was actually wondering whether the kedai makan in Mile 2.5 Likas (very famous for their noodle & tax.. haha I can't remember the rest. name but I'm sure a lot of people know the place) was still charging tax or not since the Gov. has revised the Rest/Eateries tax.(I will blog more about it later..hehe it's another story lar). Anyway after brunch we headed to 1Borneo. It was their soft opening yesterday so you can imagine the heavy traffic. But we managed to find parking at the basement. Actually they do have ample parking space there but they (the idiots) prefer to park outside and block the way which makes the traffic more slower. The place was packed with people ... they have stopped all the renovation work temporarily. So it was much better than the first day we went... We brought Phoebe to the Amusement Centre and decided to give her a ride with the Carousel. It was actually "my" dream to go up the carousel... hehehe (kasian bah last time didn't have the chance to go up) so when the attendant said I can accompany Phoebe inside I was so happy. But when I look around all the parents was just standing next to their kids... huhu so sad when initially I really wanted to go up the big tiger next to Phoebe lil horse... And hubby was actually trying to look for the hovercraft, and the arrows keep on pointing " that way" but when we get to "that way" there is nothing there ... so disappointing kan? They even got the Hot air balloon... but hubby said you have to spend at least $300 at selected shop and you will get a free ride. So there is no such thing as "free" now...

BTW, they said 1Borneo was supposed to be the top 5 LARGEST Hyper mall in Malaysia kan? And Musa Aman was saying to DE …

“KK – 1Borneo is poised to place Sabah on the map and elevate KK status as a
premier shopping destination in the region. He said with world class and
regional reputable brands, the establishment of Tune Hotel and GSC the
biggest Hyper mall in east Malaysia would certainly emerge as a new,
exciting tourism product for Sabah.1Borneo is indeed a positive development
for KK city. The outlet in 1Borneo reflects the taste and lifestyle of the
people here” By DE

WTH?? World class and reputable brands??? And yesterday it was packed with the PATI (Illegal Immigrants) with their a dozen kids tailing behind ... They are really annoying... (Pardon me but I hate to be surrounded by them...very irritating!) So hubby said don't forget their husbands work here. So? Who cares? WTH they all spoiled my mood. I hate it when their kids screaming and running around the mall and try to monopolize all the game in the amusement centre...

In the end....

It was a fun weekend for Phoebe, because she get to watch the Kung Fu Panda, go up the ride and eat donuts too ... Yup we drop by at BAD (it's a must!) and get a half dozen donuts before we headed home. By the time we were out from 1Borneo it was already raining and the kids were asleep... Poor kids! Anyway that's how we enjoy our weekends together....

p.s Wanted to blog about this last nite .. but streamyx was so darn slow, so I ended up playing pc game instead... hehe. Well maybe my blog this time is quite long, but who cares? I haven’t been blogging for 2 days.... haha okielah i cut it here ------ over & out----------

Friday, June 6, 2008

Watch Out for Po's - the Kung Fu Panda is here!

Haiiiiyaaaaatttt .... wattttchhhaaaa.....hehe !
Master Po is ready for some Kung Fu action ...

Yes .. today is the opening of the Kung Fu Panda da movie

I can't wait ... neither do Phoebe!!

Yayy .. maybe I should do the ticket booking today

Anyway was thinking ... hmmm should I go to Cathay or GSC at 1Borneo (not sure wether they have start showing it)
Enjoy the movie...

Petrol Price is up again ...

I know .. I might not be the first person to report on the price hike, but yup! it's not just fuel but other things as well...like rice.

PUTRAJAYA: The Government announced yesterday an increase in petrol and diesel prices, stating that it can no longer continue to subsidise fuel.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the new prices were still at a 30-sen per litre discount from market prices. In other words, if the market
price is RM3 per litre, Malaysians will be charged RM2.70 at the pump. He said
the price would be adjusted monthly based on the global oil price.
